PRIDE CAFE 2021 LECTURING AND DISSEMINATION OF GRAPHIC ACTIVISM ZINE/STICKERS

On SATURDAY 4th OF SEPTEMBER 2021, I attended the Pride Cafe convention in Bristol as a guest lecturer and performing artist.
My lecture, Graphic Activism: the power of comics, spoke of the history and use of images and sequential narrative as a force of positive change. From unheard stories to political satire, The talk remarked on how we can make light of injustices and trauma through image sharing and cultural change. At this event, I created a "zine" which was a printed version of my lecture that had removable "protesters" stickers to which people could peel off and place where they deaned fit.

Also at this event, I performed a live piece of communal artwork where I encouraged everyone who came to the event to literally "make their mark" as an act of remembrance and acknowledgment.

Anyone and everyone were encouraged to write, draw, or just color-in the poster as part of this public art piece. The reaction to the work was positive and the poster was then used as a way to archive the event.
